i_want_six_pack_ab1A statement I’m hearing a lot around the gym where I go to is, “I want six pack ab workouts that work!”

It seems that those six pack abs which to many people are representative of true fitness are as elusive as ever.

Six pack ab ‘wanna-haves’ are working very hard doing every abdominal exercise they can find from traditional ‘crunches’ to work the upper abs, to ‘knee ups’ to work the lower abs and seated ‘broom twists’ to work the obliques.

If this is you and you can’t yet see that flat, washboard stomach you’re so longing for, I want to save you a whole lot of pain and frustration and let you in on a little secret…You already have six pack abs and if you’ve been doing all these abdominal exercises I bet you they’re strong and well defined.

The thing is, although your six pack abs are already there you can’t actually ’see’ them because they are hidden behind a layer of fat and unfortunately no matter how many ab workouts you do, you will never burn this belly fat.

Take it from someone who has six pack abs and struggled for years doing every abdominal exercise out there and even made up a few of my own. Now don’t get me wrong ab exercises are great and are an important part of strengthening your core, however if you want to actually ’see’ your abs you need stop doing crunches and start doing cardio.

Yes, you need to get yourself onto that Treadmill or Elliptical Machine and really work up a sweat. Cardio burns fat, plain and simple and if you can get your body fat percentage down to 10% or below, I can almost guarantee that your six pack abs will be out there for all to see and admire.

If you want to speed up this whole fat burning process, increase your intake of alkaline forming foods such as raw fruits and vegetables (especially your greens). Alkaline forming foods burn belly fat fast and also help to increase your energy levels. You’ll also want to make sure you drink plenty of water throughout your day. Hydration is happiness, as they say.

Can I ask you a favor? If you’re at the gym working out and you hear someone say, “I want six pack ab workouts that work!” tell ‘em I said to get on the treadmill. Cardio = Cut Abs.
