The Awesome Avocado

A Closer Look At One Of Nature’s ‘Under-Appreciated’ Superfoods.
It is a common belief that avocados are high in fat and therefore bad for you, and that is just not the case.
While avocados are high in fat and calories, it is ‘monounsaturated’ fat which has been proven to actually ‘reduce’ cholesterol levels. Avocados are also a rich source of Vitamin E which has shown to be beneficial in helping to prevent heart disease.
Avocados also have a moderate ‘alkaline’ effect on the body, helping to keep the PH level of the blood in its natural, healthy alkaline state. If you know anything about the ‘Acid Alkaline Diet’, you know how important that is!
Another little-known fact about avocados is that they are high in ‘free radical fighting’ antioxidants and they also allow the body to better absorb the nutrients from other foods that they are eaten with. The nutrient rich avocado has also proved beneficial in keeping the eyes and skin healthy and avocado oil is used in a variety of skin care products.
But the really exciting discovery about avocados is that they contain active disease-fighting compounds such as lutein and beta-sitosterol and early scientific studies have shown promise that avocados may even help to prevent cancer, particularly cancer of the prostate.
Who knew how awesome avocados really were. What a gift! They truly deserve the title of one of nature’s ‘Superfoods’.
When was the last time you enjoyed this ‘under-appreciated’ fruit of the gods?
